Sad Girl, Big World
The September 8th release of Sad Girl, Big World by Valexa Daya is a sweet blast from the past. Valexa remembered her first ever written songs and developed a strong desire to share them. She had them remastered, so she could introduce herself as a singer-songwriter.
The melancholic “Swing On,” begins Sad Girl, Big World. The tune declares “We can’t always get what we want.” This song is about experiencing life and its many challenges. The singer is not sure what her direction in life should be next. Regardless of feelings, Valexa Daya compares life to the motion of a back-and-forth swing. Where like a swing, life moves on whether you jump off or continue to try.
In the second song “Not To Worry,” Valexa is inspired by real life events. She had a health scare, and while being checked by a doctor, she heard a soft, gentle voice tell her to not worry about her life. She turned out to be OK and would later discover Matthew 6:25. The song would flow from there. Spirituality is a strong source of inspiration for the artist.
In the third & final song, “Riding On Stars,” Valexa is feeling hopeful and determined. Valexa paints a picture of where she is in life at that point in time, and emotes longing for adventure, how far she has come, and where she wants to go. She describes herself like an open book, and the concept of riding on stars is comparable to living your dreams.
